Extra Battery Transmitter for 418-TX 418MHZ Review

Extra Battery Transmitter for 418-TX 418MHZ

Who would've thought to put a RF transmitter into a battery case? Well, the geniuses who made this batter/remote did. It works very well and the rechargable battery has lasted for 3 weeks w/o needing a recharge.

One suggestion, if you're purchasing an extra battery/RF transmitter, make sure you order the same frequency as the master unit or they won't work together. There are only 2 frequencies.

Sharper Image Sleek One-CD Stereo SA253 - Mini system - radio / CD Review

Sharper Image Sleek One-CD Stereo SA253 - Mini system - radio / CD

I purchased this stereo a few days ago from a Sharper Image Store location and as great as it looked and sounded, I took it back today.First off the instruction manual had to be written for an older version of this stereo because there were alot of things that it should have done that it didn't do because it is a "new and improved version".For example when playing a CD the instructions say you have the option of changing the display from how much time has passed on the current track to how much time is remaining on the current track to how much time is left on the CD to the AM/PM Clock. But they must have changed that on this model because it doesn't do that at all.But by far the worst part of this stereo was the remote. The buttons on the remote have to be mashed in to have them work. And with the volume 'button', which is a sort of dial/bubble/push thing, you have to apply a certain amount of pressure to a very specific and hard to find part of the 'button' on the remote.

Sharper Image Metro One-CD Stereo - Micro system - radio / CD Review

I bought this item a few months ago from the Sharper Image. It's nice and small, and the digital tuner receives better reception than I've ever gotten in my house before. If there's any problem with the unit, it might be that it's too good.On some of my CDs, there is a slight hiss.At first I thought it was the stereo malfunctioning, but on closer listening, I discovered that it was actually flaws in the mastering of the discs that I was only first able to hear through this unit.Very small, sleek, attractive, quality unit.

Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System with Subwoofer Review

Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System with Subwoofer
Average Reviews:

I am very happy with these speakers.

I replaced a cheap 2.1 set of speakers, and this sub-woofer is much better sounding than what I had before.Of course you could get even better sound by spending a lot more money, but I believe these are a very good value.

Remember you might need to reconfigure Windows and/or your BIOS and/or your Sound Card for a 5.1 speaker setup. When you are properly setup, you do NOT need to turn on the "Matrix" feature. That is only needed when you connect it to a simple stereo source like a video game console.Your computer will "upgrade" your stereo music to a 5.1 signal when configured correctly, so like I said, you can leave the Matrix button turned off when connected to your computer.

The only negative, as others have shared, is the CABLES ARE SHORT.Add $15 to the price to include a trip to Radio Shack for some RCA extension cables.

I am stilling giving this a 5-start rating, since I knew about the cable length issue before I bought it.

Product Description:
The X-540 speakers use FDD2 (Frequency Directed Dual Driver) technology to produce a uniform soundfield anywhere in the room. Immerse yourself in the game using the selectable matrix mode, which automatically creates 5.1 surround sound from common 2-channel stereo sources. The compact satellites are wall-mountable, and a special clip lets you place the center channel speaker on top of most flat-panel monitors to reduce desktop clutter. Use the wired control center to control volume and bass levels or connect headphones to enjoy your games and music privately.

Yamaha YDS-10 Universal iPod Dock for Select Yamaha Home Theater Receivers Review

Yamaha YDS-10 Universal iPod Dock for Select Yamaha Home Theater Receivers

I just got this iPod dock for my RX-V659. Popped it open. Plugged it in. And spent the next hour trying to figure out how to make it work! The instructions that come with it are really terse. All they say is to plug it in and put your iPod in it. Perhaps I'm the only on who struggled with this set up. . but in the event that there are others, I thought I'd give some additional instructons. Here are a few things you should know (that could save you an hour!).

1. You have to program your Yamaha receiver's remote with a code in order to control the iPod. Instructions for this operation are in the way-back of your receiver's owner's manual.Which has 3 separate sections on how to use an iPod. The first section for me was on p.24. The second somewhere around p. 100 and the third p. on 108. You need all three section to make it work!

2. After you program the code. . .here's the tricky part..and I didn't see this in either the YDS-10 manual or the RX-V659 manual. . .here goes: The receiver's remote has a little switch on the right side that switches between "Amp", "Source" and "TV". If you just got your receiver, you may not even notice this switch. But here's the tricky part. The receiver won't control the iPod at all if this switch is in it's default position ("Amp"). You have to switch it to "Source". . and then low and behold. . .the amp says "Loading". . the iPod screen changes to a Yamaha logo. . .and you can see your song list on the TV screen!

The sound quality is top notch! Hope this helps someone else!

Product Description:
There are several iPod docking stations on the market, but few are as convenient as the YDS-10, which is custom designed to work with Yamaha's HTR-5960, HTR-5950, RX-V659, and RX-V559 home theater receivers. Connection is easy--simply plug the dock into the Yamaha receiver's rear-panel port. Once connected, the dock not only charges your iPod and plays your favorite playlists through the receiver's stereo or surround speakers, but it also shows iPod images and movies through an attached monitor. It's the perfect setup for people who regularly download TV shows from iTunes but want to watch them on a big TV. The rest of the time, you can rock out to all your favorite songs with style.
Just as impressively, the YDS-10 lets you operate your iPod from across the room using the receiver's remote control and onscreen display, so you don't need to rise off the sofa each time you want to change selections. Connecting your iPod to a home theater system has never been easier or sounded so good. The YDS-10 is compatible with 4th and 5th generation iPods (with click wheels), the iPod mini, and the iPod nano.

Yamaha HTR-6130BL 500 Watt 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver Review

Yamaha HTR-6130BL 500 Watt 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver

First I confess.I am technically challenged--I have trouble working a cell phone. But the manual was VERY detailed, if somewhat overwhelming, and the connections were easy because of labels and diagrams. As mentioned, the HDMI connection only passes the audio through to the TV--will not route it to the surround sound speakers.

So I knew I needed a second audio connection for my dvd and cable inputs, but I still had trouble getting any sound from the speakers from my DVD player and had to call tech support. They explained that this unit was designed before HDMI and that the connections were added later as a pass-through for convenience. I wondered why they would have designed it that way to start with--turns out they didn't!But all is well that ends well.

Tech support was EXCELLENT. Although I had connected everything properly (digital coax audio cable for DVD), they walked me through the set up menu choices to get the sound working properly. They even helped me with the settings on my Sony blue ray player!Saving the setup via scene buttons will allow me to to recover the settings without remembering the details.

The first movie I watched, I thought I was in a theater!
